Aspect Hotel rebrands to The Hoban Hotel
After months of refurbishments and an investment of €1 million, we are delighted to announce and unveil our new-look Kilkenny Hotel. PREM Group purchased the 80-bedroom hotel last year and set to work to completely overhaul the public spaces at the ground floor level. Formerly Aspect Hotel Kilkenny, our renamed and refurbished hotel will now be known as The Hoban Hotel.
Jim Murphy, CEO of PREM Group said, “The Aspect Hotel, now The Hoban Hotel has always been a popular meeting place, it is easily accessible, there is ample parking and offers quality food and service. We recognised that business people in particular want to meet and eat on the go so we engaged Douglas Wallace Architects to design a space that would meet the needs of both a corporate and leisure market. High tables with access points for laptops, barista style coffee and stylish interiors are what our customers want. The new look Hoban Hotel has all of these elements and more and we are delighted with the outcome.”
Why The Hoban?
The hotel is named for James Hoban, a Kilkenny native born in 1755 near Callan Co. Kilkenny who was responsible for not only the design but the building of the White House in Washingon DC. Interestingly, his design took influence from the Dublin’s Leinster House, home to the Parliament of Ireland.
New Menus
We have refreshed our old dinner menu, but you can still expect the same level of excellent service and high standard of food as before. Our new menu has a lot more variety and incorporates some more modern food offerings in keeping with our modern look.
For dinner, you can still enjoy some timeless favourites like 8oz Sirloin steak, our juicy 8oz beef burger and the always-popular option, Cod & Chips in our signature Smithwick’s Beer Batter. We have added some more complex dishes for a more refined palate, such as our Confit Duck Leg with lentils & smoked bacon, or seared fillet of salmon with ratatouille & flat parsley pesto. There really is something for everyone.
If you’re here for lunch, you can choose from our brand new lunch menu. We can offer a quick and delicious bowl of house-made soup, accompanied by your choice of bread from our selection or a made to order sandwich. If you’d prefer to stay a while and enjoy your surroundings, try the 1801 signature club sandwich or for a real treat – our crab mix, served in a Kilner Jar and served with toasted ciabatta and mixed leaves.
Homemade Pizza
We also have a brand new, state of the art pizza oven, in case you fancy something quick and tasty. We have perfected a signature 1801 pizza sauce which enhances and complements the deliciously fresh ingredients we use.
