Santa City Cycle
The city festivities begin with Santa’s City Cycle, something Kilkenny has been enjoying for many years. This year, Yulefest is partnering with Cycle Kilkenny to help Santa on his journey to Kilkenny. Boating down the Nore and then cycling up to the Parade, Santa is arriving once again to Kilkenny on Saturday the 26th of November to switch on the Christmas lights and start the festivities in the city. Watch from the sidelines or saddle up and join Santa on the green route across the city to his final destination where he will say hello to all of the boys and girls.
Kilkenny Christmas Market
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Christmas market and Kilkenny has a fantastic one this year. Bigger & better than ever in 2022, the market takes place every weekend and across the whole of Christmas week so you can enjoy the festive atmosphere, taste some fantastic local food and find that perfect gift for someone you love this Christmas in Kilkenny. As usual, there is an emphasis on local and independent suppliers this year meaning whatever you buy in the Kilkenny Christmas market is sure to be unique. You can spend a whole day browsing the stalls, and trying some delicious food and drink to warm you up along the way.
Christmas Tree Festival
St. Canice’s Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival is delighted to return in person this year as part of Yulefest. As in previous years, the Cathedral will transform into a forest of unusual trees and you are invited to help us create this magical spectacle. You are welcome to create a tree of your own to display in the festival, simply enter your tree before 25th November 2022. There will be a selection of seasonal stalls, musical entertainment, refreshments, a raffle and something fun for the little ones. Admission is just €4 for adults and €2 for children and it’s open from 1st to 6th December.
Nore Valley Park at Christmas
The elves have been busy setting up a winter village in Nore Valley Park this Christmas to bring joy to visitors of all ages. Children will be kept entertained with fun and games and the whole family is invited to join the fun along with the mischievous elves before visiting Santa’s enchanting grotto. The visit to meet the big man includes a printed family photo, a hot chocolate for the little ones and a gift from the man himself. They even have a dedicated day to bring your pets to meet Santa – imagine how cute the pictures will be!
