Day 1
Visit Bennetsbridge Village, 10-minute drive from hotel
A beautiful village with lots to offer.
If you enjoy nature and taking a walk, then O’Groman’s Loop is for you. Just outside the village of Bennettsbridge, your little ones and big ones can pay a visit to Nore Valley Park’s Open Farm. Get up close and personal with their beautiful animals, and possibly help them at feeding time.
Craft lovers will also be “blown away” with a visit to Jerpoint Glass, or you can visit Nicholas Mosse Pottery and learn first hand how they create such wonderful pottery famous the world over and maybe grab a coffee and bite to eat while you’re there. Finish off your craft masters tour with a visit to Moth to a Flame, you won’t leave empty-handed.
Day 2
Beach Trip to Tramore, 40-minute drive from hotel
Straight down the M9 and only 40 minutes from the hotel, you can spend the day by the beach at Tramore Strand, enjoy one of our packed lunches, or treat yourself to the infamous “Dooly’s “ Fish & Chips
Dunmore East – 50 minutes from the hotel on the M9. A beautiful picturesque village with a cliff walk also if you’re that way inclined.
Annestown Beach, under 50 minutes from the hotel, for that absolute beach experience. You will need a packed lunch!
Day 3
Family Day at the caves and Discovery Park, an 18-minute drive from the hotel
If nature trails and adventure are your thing then all roads lead to Castlecomer! But before you arrive at your first walking trail, stop at Dunmore Caves, once occupied by Vikings! Be warned, there are 700 steps so this is not for the faint-hearted, we also recommend you wrap up as it is cold and at times wet (remember you’re underground).
Back on the road, and just 10 minutes away from the caves, you will find 2 different walking trail loops, suitable for all levels. The Ardra Loop is approx. 6 km and the Captains Loop is 4 km. Take in the beautiful scenery and fresh air. When you’ve worked up an appetite you enjoy your packed lunch. Once you’ve recharged you can pop into The Castlecomer Discovery Park (discounts available), here you can enjoy a visit to the craft yard, chat to the wonderfully creative folk about their work before heading into the park where you can challenge yourself by trying out their Zipline, the longest in Ireland at over 300mtrs! or attempt the Octagon. For the less adventurous, you can enjoy a takeaway coffee, and explore the nature trails, visiting the Elf and Fairy Village or try your luck on the “Bouncing Net”.

The Watershed – Only 5 minutes from the Hotel. If you’re an experienced swimmer or have a little toddler looking to get their feet wet, then we suggest visiting our friends here. Family changing rooms also available.
The Happy Pottery is just a 5-minute drive away on Kickham street. The perfect place to get creative and paint your pottery masterpiece, suitable for children and adults alike! Day 4
Historical Sightseeing, 5-minute drive from the hotel
The Medieval Mile is a must, and you can purchase a “Medieval Mile Pass”. With this, you will enjoy admission to Kilkenny Castle, Medieval Mile Museum, Rothe House, Smithwick’s Experience, St Canice’s Cathedral & and climb the steps of the Round Tower for a spectacular 360’ view of Kilkenny city. Your MM pass can also be used to take a trip with Kilkenny Cycling and you can take part in their treasure hunt. Shenanigans Variety Tours is also a great way to pass the afternoon, as is the Ghost Tour if you dare!
Take a trip out to the beautiful countryside and visit Jerpoint Abbey dating back to the 12th Century. You can also spend time in their visitor and exhibition centre. From here you can continue to the beautiful small town of Thomastown and enjoy a stroll around this wonderfully vibrant and bohemian village. Once you have completed your time here, we would highly recommend a trip to Inistioge only 10 minutes away. Here, you can visit the beautiful café or enjoy our packed lunch by the river. Alternatively, you can follow the road up the steep hills that will lead you into the fairy tale that is Woodstock House and Gardens. We promise you will get lost in time as you stroll through the gardens, and soak up the beautiful surroundings of the Arboretum and secret passageways.
